This movie starts when a family gets stuck traveling through the forest and their car breaks down. It happens right around the time when their little girl is complaining about how she does not want to move.
When they come out of their vehicle, they find themselves in a strange land. They come across a restaurant where you can eat an unlimited amount of food where Chihiro’s parents turn into pigs.
A boy comes into the scene and tells her that she has to find a job if she does not want to turn into some animal or be eliminated from being. He then shows her the woman who can help her find a job. But she demands she sign her name out for her for eternity. She then accepts the demands and signs her name away to start working as someone who cleans other spirits’ dirt and filth.
During her tenure, there she cleans a wind spirit who gifts her a vegetable that is meant to be valuable. One day, a faceless spirit comes in and offers her money which she refuses. The faceless spirit starts consuming all the other humans and the creatures in the room. Chihiro gives him that vegetable thingy when all of a sudden the faceless starts to throw it all up. That boy from the beginning comes back again, but this time tells her that he is actually a dragon and flies her out of there. On the way, they encounter that old hag of a woman who set her up with her job and gets her name signed off of her.
Chihiro says she doesn’t want her name to be in cahoots with her and wants to end the relationship. The hag agrees on one condition that the little girl finds her parents among the pigs. She says there must be something wrong for none of the pigs are her parents then the hag gives in because she was right. She is then set free and takes with her out that freaking world and moves to another town against her own will.
